How to Report a Concern
At Northiam C of E Primary school, we want to make sure that children feel safe and cared for.
The safety and welfare of children – or Safeguarding – is everyone’s responsibility. You could be a neighbour, friend, parent or relative. Safeguarding means protecting children from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect. It also means helping children to grow up into confident, healthy and happy adults.
If you think a child might be suffering neglect or abuse, it can be difficult to know what to do. But your action is vital in making sure that child gets the help they need.
Acting quickly can make all the difference.
You can contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Bray or in her absence, Mrs Babicz on 01797 252141 or email office@northiam.school for advice.
If you are unable to contact us and are concerned about a child in East Sussex contact the Single Point of Advice (SPOA) on 01323 464222 who will be able to help.
If you think the child is in immediate danger, you should call the Police on 999.
If you are not happy with the way we have managed your concern at school you should either the the Chair of Governors, Judith Koral at JKoral@northiam.school or the DCAT Safeguarding Lead, Mark Talbot on 01273 425001 or email mtalbot@dcat.academy.
If you still have concerns you can contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) via the East Sussex reporting portal by clicking here or the NSPCC whistleblowing helpline 0800 028 0285.
If you believe your child is being bullied at the school please in the first instance speak to your child’s teacher. Following this, if you not satisfied with the outcome please contact either our Head Teacher Mrs Bray or the school office to make an appointment.
