Welcome to Oak class!
Welcome to Oak class page. We are a mixed year 1 and 2 class who love to have fun whilst we are learning. We have a big focus on developing our children as readers, writers and inspired learners.
Our curriculum is designed to build children's key knowledge and skills whilst supporting independence and resilience.
In Maths, we focus on developing mathematical fluency and aim for children to develop a deep understanding of mathematical skills and language to help reason and problem solve.
In Writing, we have follow the Talk for Writing (T4W) method by Pie Corbett, enabling children to imitate orally the language they need for a particular topic, before reading and analysing it, and then writing their own version.
In Phonics, we use Little Wandle to learn all the sounds needed for Year 1 and the spelling and grammar skills for Year 2.
