Wellbeing Warriors
At Northiam C of E Primary school, the Wellbeing Warrior curriculum is developed to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. It provides opportunities to compete and take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges which builds character, confidence and self – esteem and helps children to embed values such as fairness and respect. We feel it is important that children compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best. We have annually have GB athlete visit the school. In 2023, we had Commonwealth gold medalist Courtney Tulloch, visit the school.
The curriculum provides a wealth of experiences that encourages a rich language and resource of opportunities that allow children to shape and define their character. These experiences provide children with a healthy and diverse platform to grow from in future schooling and life.
The Wellbeing warrior programme teaches Growth Mindset(GM). In Growth Mindset, people believe they can improve their intelligence and talents through purposeful effort, accepting guidance and support, and dedication to improvement without comparison to others. People with a Growth Mindset believe anything Is possible over time. Crucially, those who possess a GM have a happier and more successful life.
We believe that the best thing to do is teach our children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and just keep on learning. Our children recognise that effort, persistence and good teaching will help them to improve.
