Life on the Farm and Artistic Expression: A Week in Willow Class

It has been another busy week in Willow Class, packed with exciting learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From a fantastic farm adventure to exploring emotions through art, it's been a week filled with discovery and creativity.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly our trip to the Rare Breeds Farm. The children were absolutely thrilled to be surrounded by a variety of animals, eager to learn about their different characteristics and routines. A fascinating talk on lifecycles sparked a real interest in the natural world, connecting the theory we've been learning in class to real-life examples. Of course, no farm trip is complete without a tractor ride! The children's faces lit up as they chugged along, taking in the sights and sounds of the farm. And after all that learning, a run around the adventure playground was the perfect way to burn off some energy and end a truly memorable day.

Back in the classroom, the learning continued with energy and enthusiasm. In Maths, we've been focusing on length, using play dough to create wiggly worms and measure them using non-standard units. This hands-on approach has really helped the children grasp the concept of measurement in a fun and engaging way.

Literacy lessons took an imaginative turn as we explored new vocabulary through the quirky and captivating animation, "Trap Door." The children were enthralled by the characters and their escapades, eagerly adding new words and phrases to their growing vocabularies.

But perhaps one of the most unique and engaging lessons of the week was our Art session. The children explored the connection between music and emotion, expressing their feelings through painting. Listening to a variety of musical pieces, they used different colours and brushstrokes to convey the emotions the music evoked. It was a truly sensory experience, and the results were surprisingly expressive and creative.
