Oak Class learn more about the Great Fire of London
In Writing, we began exploring diary writing and learned about Samuel Pepys, who kept a diary during the Great Fire of London. The children took part in some exciting hot-seating, where a few of them stepped into the role of Thomas Farriner, the baker, and answered lots of interesting questions from their classmates.
In Maths, we have been learning how to add more using the stem sentence “First…, then…, now…”. The children used concrete resources to create and share their own mathematical stories.
In Science, we learnt about the difference between bulbs and seeds, exploring how each one grows. We have also been very busy making our Christmas cards—we can’t wait for you to see our wonderful designs!
We’re really looking forward to our Great Fire of London Day next Thursday—it’s going to be an exciting way to bring our topic to an end.
