Willow Class Weekly Wrap-Up: Spooky Stories, Sunny Adventures, and Easter Explorations!

It's been another whirlwind week in Willow Class, filled with spooky tales, mathematical discoveries, phonics fun, and glorious outdoor adventures!

Our literacy focus has been firmly on the creepy and captivating animation, "Trap Door." We've delved into the mysterious world beneath the trapdoor, exploring its characters and the spooky atmosphere. The children have been brimming with creative ideas, bringing the world of "Trap Door" to life through their writing.

Meanwhile, our maths lessons have been all about measurement. We've been exploring height and length, learning to compare objects and use appropriate vocabulary. A vital skill we’ve been honing this week is our number formation, ensuring we're writing our numerals clearly and accurately.

In phonics, we've been revisiting some familiar sounds: ar, ow, and igh. We've been practicing blending these sounds in words and using them in our reading and writing. But the highlight of the week, for many, was undoubtedly our day spent soaking up the sunshine! We made the most of the glorious weather with a trip to the forest and outdoor area. This provided a fantastic opportunity to develop our gross motor skills through climbing, running, and building. We also embarked on a mini-beast hunt, closely examining the fascinating creatures that share our environment.

Our RE learning this week has centered around the Easter story. We learned about the events leading up to Easter Sunday, focusing on the significance of the story. The week culminated in a special visit to the church for an Easter workshop. This hands-on experience allowed the children to engage with the story in a meaningful way, further solidifying their understanding of this important celebration.

All in all, it's been a busy and enriching week in Willow Class! We're looking forward to continuing our learning journey next week with even more exciting adventures.
